An Image of a SkyWing

SkyWings are one of the seven tribes living on Pyrrhia. They live in The Sky Kingdom, located on the central and north part of Pyrrhia, on the "wing" of the continent. Some SkyWings also live in the town of Possibility, located between the Sky Kingdom and The Kingdom of Sand.[1] They were previously ruled by Queen Scarlet, but after the events of The Dragonet Prophecy are ruled by Queen Ruby. They are the fastest fliers compared to all the other dragon tribes and are characterized by their large wings and hot fire.[2] There are no known SkyWing animus dragons. SkyWings are afraid of the potential dangers of an animus dragon and kill any found in the tribe.[3]

Appearance

SkyWing scales can be crimson, red, orange, or yellow, with underscales that tend to be lighter than their other scales. Their eyes can be orange, amber, or yellow; SkyWings with firescales are the exception, who have blue eyes.[citation needed]

Skywings are muscular dragons with long, waving horns. They have small spikes on their back and the largest wingspan of all the tribes. They have a spike on the tip of their snout, and one spike on either side of their jaw.[2]

Abilities

SkyWings are known to have the hottest fire, and are able to hold their fire into the highest heat to get it that way. They are also the fastest tribe in flight.[2]
When two dragonets develop in the same egg, one twin can absorb the other's fire, leading to one twin being fireless and the other having a condition called firescales. Fireless SkyWings are paler than SkyWings with fire.[citation needed] Dragons with firescales can set flammable objects on fire just by touching them. Traditionally, firescales dragonets would be killed as soon as they hatched.

History

During the War of SandWing Succession

The queen of the SkyWings during the war was Queen Scarlet, who was allied with Burn and the MudWings.[2] Scarlet was a savage leader. She held her prisoners atop an arena, where they fought to the death for a chance of freedom.[citation needed] However, after a few wins, she would send in her "champion," Peril, and she would immediately kill them with her firescales.

Glory shooting her venom at Queen Scarlet, The Dragonet Prophecy: The Graphic Novel

Close to the end of the war during The Dragonet Prophecy, Queen Scarlet had captured The Dragonets of Destiny: Clay, Tsunami, Starflight, Glory and Sunny. However, during a battle in the arena between Clay and Peril, Glory shot her deadly venom at Queen Scarlet's face.[4][Note 1] Scarlet survived the attack but disappeared, which sent the kingdom into disarray.[citation needed] In Scarlet's place, her daughter, Ruby, took the throne. Most SkyWings pledged loyalty to Ruby when she ascended the throne, but a faction retained their loyalty to Scarlet, believing her to still be alive and in hiding.[5] Some feared that this event could have made the war even worse.[citation needed]

Trivia:

  1. The SkyWings once had a tournament called the "Clash of Claws Tournament" every seven years, competing for fame and a spot on the queen's table of advisors.[6] The challenges include testing the SkyWings: flame, endurance, strength, cunning, guile, wit, and speed.[7]
  2. They are the first tribe to have an anthem. It was composed by Cliff.[8]

Notes

  1. Prior to this, the only dragons who knew about the RainWings' ability to shoot venom were the RainWings themselves.
