Introduction[edit source]
Welcome to the Wings of Fire Wiki! This is an unofficial wiki with the goal of providing detailed, accurate, and complete information about the Wings of Fire book series written by Tui T. Sutherland and published by Scholastic. This project was started by me, Bog, as an alternative to the well-established Wings of Fire Fandom Wiki. If you're looking for the most complete information, you should go there.
My first jump into the Wings of Fire fandom was in 2020 with a small community of a few hundred people called Wings of Fire Minecraft, which is now known as Wings of Fire: The New World. It is there that I started a Wings of Fire YouTube channel called Bog The MudWing and eventually became an administrator.
In 2023, to optimize our information availability and write long-term documentation, we started hosting a MediaWiki instance. The first few months were pretty rocky, with generally poor maintenance, as we were unfamiliar with the technical skills required to maintain such a project. However, we have gradually built a fairly stable and functional wiki instance for our community.
On December 14, 2024, I decided to take all I had learned building WOFTNW Wiki to create a new wiki for the Wings of Fire fandom. Why? Doesn't the Fandom wiki work just fine?
Yes, the Fandom wiki is a wonderful tool and resource and I personally have used it on several occasions for WOFTNW and Bog The MudWing. However, Fandom is limited in its theming and extensions capabilities. There are options, but all Fandom wikis must conform to Fandom's own rules. In addition, Fandom is a for-profit company whose ultimate goal is to make money. Fandom is notorious for having an abundance of advertisements, which are disruptive and often include tracking measures that record your interests and identifiable information to serve you targeted advertisements which you will be more likely to interact with. And of course, when you set up shop in Fandom's house, you have to play by Fandom's rules, which they may change at any time and for any reason.
Simply put, I don't enjoy the asterisks that come along with having a wiki under Fandom, and I think that many other people would agree. So I built my own.

| Why don't you copy articles from the Fandom wiki? | The articles in the Fandom wiki are protected by a CC-BY-SA license. This wiki uses a CC-BY-4.0 license. Legally, these licenses are only semi-compatible. Content from this wiki can be used in the Fandom wiki (with attribution), but content from the Fandom wiki cannot be used on this wiki unless that content is also licensed CC-BY-SA, which is a bit more complicated than I would like.

| For how long will this wiki exist? | For as long as there is funding and people to maintain it. Right now, it's entirely a one-man operation, but the cost and maintenance is low, so I expect there is plenty of time to build an administration team later on if needed. |
