Because of her condition, she was to be the Champion of Queen Scarlet. She currently attends Jade Mountain Academy and is in the Jade Winglet.

Then-Queen Scarlet ordered Kestrel to kill the two dragonets. However, Kestrel tried to escape with them. Scarlet had caught up to them and said that she would forgive Kestrel on one condition. Two days later, Peril hid behind Clay to watch Kestrel's trial after Scarlet forbade her from doing so.[13] Upon discovering that Kestrel was her mother, she revealed herself and called upon the Champion's Shield to fight for Kestrel.
When Clay, Tsunami, and Starflight were moved to Peril's cave by Scarlet, Peril at first helped them escape, but then betrayed them and let Scarlet discover their attempted escape.[14]
