Prisoners is the first book in the Winglets Quartet.
Blurb[edit | edit source]
Fierceteeth knows she could have been a Dragonet of destiny. She's a much better NightWing than that weird brother of hers, Starflight. Her dreams of glory have been painfully scorched, though, and now she and Strongwings are captives in the SandWing prison, waiting to be put on trial. Fierceteeth just wants a chance to tell her side of the story -- before it's too late.
Plot[edit | edit source]
The Dragonet With No Destiny[edit | edit source]
This scroll detailed Fierceteeth's experiences as a NightWing on the former NightWing island. She described the harsh conditions of the volcano and her mother Farsight's behavior toward Starflight's egg. Farsight neglected Fierceteeth, focusing all her attention on the egg. Rather than competing for her mother's affection, Fierceteeth attempted to persuade Morrowseer to permit her to travel to the mainland, but he refused. In the scroll's conclusion, she invited Saguaro to join her in an escape plan. Saguaro inquires about the other dragon in the prison.
Brains and the Beast[edit | edit source]
In the story, Fierceteeth recounted how she first encountered Strongwings. Initially, they barely knew each other, but their paths crossed again after Strongwings upset Mastermind. He then secretly led Fierceteeth through the animus tunnel to the rainforest, overpowering the guard, Deadlyclaws. Hours later, when they returned, they faced an enraged Deadlyclaws and Morrowseer. Strongwings attempted to take all the blame for their rule-breaking, showing selflessness. Saguaro then asks what would happen if he helped her escape.
How It Should Have Been[edit | edit source]
Fierceteeth described her vision of a successful plan, with herself as the NightWing queen and Burn as the SandWing queen. She suggested to Saguaro that they could still have something like that if he helped. Saguaro agrees to help with the escape.
