Description

The Ice Kingdom is located in the Northwestern-most Pyrrhia. It shares a border with The Kingdom of Sand. The kingdom is known for sub-zero temperatures,[1] as well as immense amounts of ice, snow, and freezing wind.[1] These conditions make it so that only IceWings can live in the Kingdom.

The kingdom has one main palace near the northern border, known as Queen Snowfall's Palace.[2] This palace is where the royalty live, as well as many first and second circle dragons.[3] However, there are three "outer" palaces where other nobles reside.[4]

Scattered across the kingdom are many small villages. The villages have names such as Where-the-Whales-Leap-at-Dawn or Where-the-Terns-Fly.[5]

The Ice Kingdom used to have a giant wall of ice called The Gift of Defense that kept other dragons out of their kingdom.[6] This wall was only on the south side of their territory, because the rest was protected by freezing water and weather that other tribes could not survive.

Royalty

The Ice Kingdom is currently ruled by Queen Snowfall. She has two sisters, Mink[7] and Crystal.[8] The other royal family consists of Tundra, Winter, Hailstorm, Icicle, and Permafrost.

Enchanted Items

  • The Gift of Defense (The Great Ice Cliff): A giant ice wall that shoots spears at any non-IceWing trying to pass into the Ice Kingdom.[6] It was destroyed by Queen Snowfall[9]
  • The Gift of Splendor (The IceWing Palace): The large palace made of ice that the royal IceWings live inside. It was made to be impenetrable, and the walls are unable to crack or melt. It was crafted by a pair of animus twins.[10]
  • The Gift of Order: A large rankings wall with every aristocratic IceWing's name written on it. The names written on the wall are able to be moved around or removed entirely. [11]It was destroyed by Queen Snowfall. [12]
  • The Gift of Elegance: Small, glass snowflakes inside the otherwise translucent palace walls. These snowflakes are meant to reflect the current weather outside the palace.[13]
  • The Gift of Light: A tree intricately carved out of ice. Small, lantern-like spheres known as moon globes sprout off the tree. Whenever one is picked off the branches, a new one blooms in its place.[14] It was carved and enchanted by Frostbite.[15]
  • The Gift of Healing: Five narwhal horns that are able to heal frost breath injuries, enchanted by Ex-Queen Diamond.[16] This was her official gift to the tribe, but she enchanted other items without her kingdom's knowledge.[17][18]
  • The Gift of Diplomacy: Three bracelets that keep non-IceWings warm, as well as letting them cross the Great Ice Cliff without being shot.[19] It was gifted by Penguin.[20]
  • The Gift of Subsistence: Three holes located on the outskirts of The Ice Kingdom.[21] They supply the dragons with an endless amount of seals.[21] It was gifted by Princess Caribou.[22]
  • The Gift of Strength: A tiara, smaller than the official IceWing crown, that allowed the wearer extra strength.[23] This tiara is stored in The Forbidden Treasury.[24]
  • The Gift of Compromise: A scepter carved from a dark blue rock that has small diamonds set in it. This scepter is stored in The Forbidden Treasury.[25]
  • The Gift of Vision: A silver ring that looks like dragon tails winding around a milky white-pink-gold-green opal. The ring allows the wearer to exist as another dragon as long as the wearer is asleep.[citation needed] The ring only appears to the royal dragons who need it.[26] It was enchanted by Opal, and is stored in The Forbidden Treasury.[27]
  • The Gift of Stealth: Pale silver wristbands set with diamonds. When hit together three times, the wearer is able to make anything invisible. When hit together three more times, the magic wears off and anything invisible becomes visible again.[28] These wristbands are stored in The Forbidden Treasury.[28]
  • Part of The Gift of Understanding: An unwearable piece of silver. It is unknown where the other part(s) of the gift could be. It is located in The Forbidden Treasury, but Snowfall says that it looks out of place. She says its alcove looked hacked out of the ice, instead of beautifully carved like the others.[29]
  • Other Enchanted Items:
    • The large crown that IceWing queens wear. Allegedly, it was enchanted by Queen Diamond to make the wearer hate NightWings as much as Diamond had.[17]
    • "The Gift of Vengeance" as named by Winter,[30] is a set of shackles with a small diamond carved into them. They were enchanted by Queen Diamond to keep Foeslayer in a dungeon forever.[18] They could only be opened by using frostbreath on the diamonds.[31]
