An Image of a LeafWing from A Guide to the Dragons of Pantala

LeafWings are one of the three tribes that live on Pantala. Before the Tree wars, LeafWings lived in the forests of Pantala. After the Tree Wars, they fled into the Poison Jungle and split into two factions: the PoisonWings and the SapWings. They now currently live in the LeafSilk Kingdom alongside the SilkWings.[1] Their current queen is Queen Sequoia.[2] During the Tree Wars, LeafWings were almost exterminated by Ex-Queen Wasp and the HiveWings. They are characterized by their leaf-shaped wings and their rare leafspeak abilities.

Appearance[edit | edit source]

LeafWings are most commonly shades of green or brown. LeafWings also can have hints of gold, red, and pink alongside their main scale color; as well as patterns of other colors on their scales.[2] Their eyes can be green or brown.[2]

LeafWings have a curved and slim body figure, and are slightly shorter than most tribes.

They have flat, semi-plated, and curved horns; extra elliptical scales dotted across their entire body; and a SeaWing-like sail on their back, or webbing. They have round leaf-shaped wings that look almost transparent in the sun, and a leaf shape on the tip of their tail. They also have a small spike on the tip of their snout.

Abilities[edit | edit source]

LeafWings are able to absorb energy from the sunlight, like RainWings. Some individuals have an ability known as leafspeak, which allows the dragon to speak to plants[2], and can also be used to grow them faster than average[3]. Leafspeak is genetic, and if both parents have leafspeak, their dragonet will have leafspeak stronger than both of them.[4]

They are known as great caretakers of trees and other plants alike, and use dangerous plants to their advantage. For instance, when Sundew used bullet ants and poisonous centipedes occasionally to escape desperate situations. These are stored in pouches woven from leaves.[citation needed]

Names[edit | edit source]

Before the Tree Wars, all LeafWings were usually named after trees. This changed after the Tree Wars had split the LeafWings into two different groups, the PoisonWings began to name their dragons after aggressive carnivorous plants, such as Sundew and Cobra Lily, or poisonous plants, such as Belladonna and Nettle. SapWings continued to name their dragonets after trees, such as Willow, Hazel, and Sequoia.[5]

Culture[edit | edit source]

Books[edit | edit source]

After being defeated in the Tree Wars, LeafWings began making their own books in the Poison Jungle, making both new titles and reconstructions of older books that were lost during the war. These books are made using many resources common in the Poison Jungle like plant fiber, bark, tree sap, and wood pulp. The LeafWings have made a multitude of titles including: Ash of Green Gingkos, The Count Of Mount Kudzu, Where The Mountain Meets The Moon, and many others.[6]
