RainWing Image

RainWings are one of the seven tribes living on Pyrrhia. The RainWings live in the Rainforest Kingdom where the RainWing Village is located, and live alongside the NightWings. They are currently ruled by Queen Glory and are characterized by their color changing scales and pacifism.[1]

Appearance

RainWing scales are constantly shifting colors,[1] but most RainWings have a "default" color scheme they wear when they aren’t feeling any particular emotions.[citation needed] This default color is commonly bright like birds-of-paradise,[1] and can be any coloring.[citation needed] Their eyes, like their scales, change color and tend to do so with their emotions,[citation needed] but tend to be shades of green, yellow, brown, pink, gold, or blue when not feeling any strong emotions.[citation needed]

It is stated by Jambu that RainWings' "sun time" is essential to have bright, colorful scales.[2] If RainWings can't get enough sleep, their scales can't change color.[3]

They are lean dragons, and almost appear delicate and give off a graceful air.[citation needed]

RainWings are long, slender dragons with curved horns and a curled up prehensile tail.[1] They have ruffs behind their ears and an extra spike on the tip of their snout and on either side of their jaw. Small spikes run down from the back of their head to the tip of their tail. They have long, sloth-like claws and two long, venom-spraying fangs. They have forked tongues.

Abilities

RainWings are able to change the color of their scales at will,[citation needed] using this to express emotions[citation needed] and to camouflage themselves.[1]

They are able to spray a corrosive black venom[1] from their two longest fangs,[citation needed] which is capable of melting through most organic material but incapable of corroding metal.[4] When the venom of two blood-related RainWings combines, it is no longer corrosive and is neutralized.[5] Most RainWings never use their venom for aggressive purposes,[citation needed] only using it before mating with a partner to test whether they are related to each other and therefore determine whether mating is appropriate.[6] With Glory being Queen of the RainWings, the amount of RainWings willing to use their venom on other dragons may increase as she is trying to convince the pacifist RainWings that it may sometimes be necessary to defend themselves using venom.[citation needed]

Alike to LeafWings, RainWings gain energy from sunlight, though whether they have the actual ability to photosynthesise like LeafWings is not directly mentioned .[citation needed]

RainWings have been known to flare their ruff if they feel threatened or angered.[7]
