Tui T. Sutherland (born July 31, 1978, in Caracas, Venezuela) is an American author best known for writing the Wings of Fire book series.[1] She also works alongside numerous authors on popular book series such as Warriors and Seekers under the collective pseudonym Erin Hunter.[2][3] She has written books under her actual name as well as under pen names, including Tamara Summers, Heather Williams, and Rob Kidd.

Personal life[edit | edit source]

Sutherland was born on July 31, 1978 in Caracas, Venezuela, and lived in Asuncion, Paraguay; Miami, Florida; and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, before moving to New Jersey in high school where she started doing backstage work for theater.[1] Her mother, who was from New Zealand, named her after the tui, a bird native to that country. She graduated from Williams College in 1998 and is currently living with her husband, her two children, and her dog in Boston.
