Chapter Description[edit | edit source]

Gill swam to the Royal Hatchery, finding guard Abalone gravely ill with a neck growth. Unable to leave the eggs unguarded, Gill sought a replacement, asking a group of princes to fetch Snapper in Aquatic. Turtle volunteered, and Gill urged haste. Returning to Abalone, Gill grew furious as Snapper didn’t arrive, blaming Turtle and himself for unclear orders. Gill fetched healers, but Abalone was unconscious, the growth burst, and the female eggs destroyed. Enraged, Gill rushed out, spotting Coral returning from meeting Blister. Her distressed expression stopped him from sharing the news in Aquatic.

Seeing Turtle isolated from his brothers, Gill seized his wing, demanding why he failed. Terrified, Turtle explained he couldn’t find Snapper, unsure of her appearance, clutching coral. Gill berated him, blaming him for the eggs’ loss and expressing disappointment. Feeling guilty for scolding a young dragonet, Gill still vented his frustration. Approaching Queen Coral, he defended Abalone and Snapper, but Coral had ordered their execution. She vowed their next daughter, Anemone, would survive, tasking Gill to watch the SeaWings while she stayed by her side. Gill doubted her optimism.
