Wasp is an adult female HiveWing and former queen of the HiveWings and SilkWings. She is the daughter of Cochineal, sister of Bloodworm, Cicada, Hornet, Mantis, Yellowjacket, Tsetse, and Vinegaroon, as well as the niece of Scarab and cousin to Jewel.

Wasp is described as an enormous dragon,[1] with scales of perfect black and yellow stripes, and black horns, which liken her appearance to that of Pantalan wasps.[2][3] She has completely black, deep, and glittering eyes,[4] surrounded by an oval of yellow scales,[3] which were sometimes used on the posters around the hives that portrayed Wasp, along with her claw stingers.[5][6] Her tail stinger is not commonly known about,[7] and is only known to have been used to inject the Breath of Evil into HiveWing eggs.[8] The way that Wasp stands, holds her wings, and radiates menace can make her seem like she is larger than she really is.[1] She has a chilly voice that can also be heard spoken by other dragons when they are mind-controlled by Wasp[9] and she has been shown to have dark green blood.[4]
